Nkumba University Rotaract club members traveled to Entebbe Comprehensive Senior secondary school on 16th September 2022 for career guidance.
The Rotaract club partnered with Munange Counseling Association to guide students on academic Career choices and goals. The partnership also saw Munange counseling Association counselors giving psycho social support targeting post COVID effects on the lives of students.
The Rotaract delegation included the president and her team whereas Nantale Jamilah and Lutaaya Ashiraf were the counselors from Munange Counseling Association.
Over 30 teenagers were tipped on key career determinants.
The youngsters exhibited excitement as they engaged with varsity students in what turned out to be inspirational.
Rotaractors advised high school teenagers to set goals if they are to achieve their career aspirations.
According to Adam Mulinde, the projects director- Rotaract club of Nkumba University, the purpose was to help students understand how academic decisions they make may turn out to either favor them or bring them down, “when we guide young people in making academic decisions, it is important that we throw a more comprehensive explanation to help them understanding how decisions impact their career paths. Whereas some decisions turn out good, others may not therefore, it is through such developmental programs that students are helped to make and implement informed educational and occupational choices”.
“September is the Basic Education and Literacy Month, we are doing this in fulfillment of the month’s theme which is also Rotary’s 5th area of focus. We have equipped them with first hand information on how best to make academic choices.This is a stage at which people develop to make mature and informed decisions. We believe that knowing which career is marketable in the employment world can help them concretize their academic focus,” said Rinah Ampa, the president of the Rotaract club of Nkumba.
Founded in 1996, Rotaract club of Nkumba University continues to deliver Rotary’s call for humanitarian service. With close to 50 members, the club has won humanitarian service awards for their relentless service to the community.
