Higher Education Students Financing Board (HESFB) has simplified the student loan application process, making it easier for students to secure funding for their academic pursuits.
Nankunda Alison Akankwasa from HESFB was at Nkumba University today to guide student loan applicants through the process, emphasizing that a “national ID can now be used instead of a financial card.”
According to officials, eligible, applicants must be below 35 years of age and possess a valid national ID with relevant documentation.
The university has designated the office of the Academic Registrar to guide applicants through the process.
The Nkumba University Academic Registrar, Dr. Frank Pio Kiyingi encouraged potential students to take advantage of the loan scheme. “I implore you to take advantage of this loan opportunity, but before you start filling out the form, make sure you have all the necessary documents,” he said.
This year, the HESFB has earmarked a budget to benefit 1,500 students. To address any questions or concerns, Nkumba University has organized a three-day physical interface with experts from HESFB, starting from Monday, June 24th, to Wednesday, June 26th, 2024, starting from 10 am.
“We are committed to making higher education accessible to all, and this simplified process is a step in the right direction,” emphasized Nankunda Alison Akankwasa.
Briefly, the Higher Education Students Financing Board (HESFB) was established in 2014 to provide loans and scholarships to students pursuing higher education in Uganda.
HESFB aims to increase access to higher education, particularly for those who are financially constrained. The board provides financing to students in recognized institutions of higher learning, supporting various academic disciplines.
