Lwengo, Uganda. Rotary International youth led humanitarian service club, th Rotaract Club of Nkumba University yesterday reached out to Lweendezi Primary School in Lwengo district, delivering relief items to over 200 pupils.


The community service project was conducted in partnership with Rotary Club of Entebbe and Nkumba University, purposed to address the school’s dire needs, ranging from lack of scholarstic materials to limmited access to sanitarytowels.


“We were shocked to find children writing on the ground & girls struggling to find sanitary pads,” recounted Clinton Kananura, the President, Rotaract Club of Nkumba University.  Adding that, “This triggered a call to action, and today we are happy to have delivered some of these relief items.”


The project saw over 200 pupils receive Reusable sanitary towels and scholarstic materials inclusive of books, pens, rulers, pencils, and crayons.

Close to 30 students participated in the project, many of these say, the project redefines the power of community service and collaboration.
Rotaractors also donated lawn slashers, Rolls of toilet tissue, Liquid soap, clothes and planted 100 trees for environmental conservation.

However, despite this effort, the school still faces significant challenges. “There’s still a pressing need for support, particularly in water and shelter,” Kananura noted.

Lweendezi Primary School’s plight is not unique in rural Uganda, where many schools struggle with basic necessities.

The Rotaract Club of Nkumba University has pledged to continue supporting Lweendezi Primary School, for purposes of inspiring hope for a brighter future. “We are committed to supporting initiatives that improve lives and empower future generations.” Asserted President Kananura.

He further lauded partners expressing utmost gratitude for their participation,
“We are grateful for the the donations we recieved, I extent my sincerest thanks to all our partners, together, we were able to make a tangible difference in the lives of these young Ugandans.”

“It is incumbent uppon us to support rural schools.” He added.

As the pupils of Lweendezi Primary School return to their classrooms, equipped with new materials and renewed optimism, the impact of this outreach project will undoubtedly resonate far beyond the village borders.
