Reverend Augustine Kayemba of St. Apolo Kivebulaaya Church preached a powerful message of peace and trust in God during the Nkumba University Board of Trustees (BOT) End-of-Year Prayer Breakfast, held on Wednesday, December 18th, 2024, at the Nkumba Education Trust Headquarters in Abaita Ababiri-Entebbe.

Drawing from Isaiah 9:6, Reverend Kayemba emphasized the importance of trusting God and focusing on His glory. “The coming of Jesus Christ brought peace to the world. People should pray to God about their fears and trust His process,” he said.

Reverend Kayemba encouraged the congregation to trust God completely and depend on Him for their needs. “When you trust Him, you will tell Him all your worries, and His grace shall descend upon you,” he added.

The man of God also commended the Nkumba University for their hard work and dedication, which has led to the university’s growth and success over the years. “I was impressed by a colleague who saw me on TV and raised me a call later. He said, ‘Reverend, I saw you blessing the congregation at Nkumba University’s graduation. It was massive. Nkumba has really improved,'” he recalled.

The attendance list stretched to include the Chair University Council, Dr. Christopher Samuel Mayanja, the Chairperson Board of Trustees Mr. Willy Ffulu, and Dr. Ben Kintu, the BOT Secretary. Also in attendance were Mrs. Deborah Nakyejjwe, Dr. Kiddu Makububuya, Mr. Kalyango Muhammed, Mr. Kisitu Patrick, Mr. Ssengendo Davide Nvule, Mr. Edward Mulondo, and Mrs. Flavia Ssewagude, all members of the Board of Trustees. Additionally, Prof. Francis Kasekende and Prof. Jude Lubega represented Management.

Shortly after the mass, the prayer breakfast was dissolved into a workshop. Dr. Ben Kintu Kamya, thanked members for turning up on short notice and later introduced Dr. Christopher S. Mayanja to discuss the topic, “The Functions of Board of Trustees in Higher Education Institutions.”

Dr. Mayanja emphasized the importance of the BOT in providing leadership and oversight to higher education institutions. “A Board of Trustees is a governing body that oversees and provides leadership for higher education institutions such as colleges and universities,” he explained.

Prof. Jude Lubega thanked the BOT for their effective collaboration with management and promised continued synergy in steering Nkumba University forward.

The prayer breakfast was a moment of reflection and thanksgiving for Nkumba University’s annual success, setting the tone for a peaceful and prosperous new year ahead.
