Yesterday, March 23rd, 2025, marked a somber day for the family and friends of Martha Ahumuza Murari, the 23-year-old who tragically passed away at Mezo Noir, a popular nightclub in Kololo, Kampala.

Born on February 13, 2002, Martha had just graduated from ISBAT University with a degree in international business in December.

Martha’s mother, Barbra Murari, was overwhelmed with grief as she remembered her daughter. “My only daughter, gone. I did everything to protect her,” she said, her voice trembling with emotion. “From keeping her off campus to buying her a car, I tried to shield her from harm, but tragedy still struck. The devil stole my daughter”.

Martha’s father, Seth Murari, the National Sports and Games Coordinator in the Office of the National Chairman of the NRM, vowed to get to the bottom of his daughter’s death. “No matter what it takes, I will ensure that justice is served,” he assured relatives and friends at the burial.

The investigation into Martha’s death has led to the arrest of two men, Edward Muagabo, a cashier at Mezo Noir, and his brother Joseph Kalenzi.
According to preliminary reports, Martha had been drinking with Muagabo before moving to the manager’s office, where she collapsed.

As Martha was laid to rest in Mbarara, her family and friends remembered her as a bright and ambitious young woman with a promising future. Her sudden death has left many in shock and mourning.

The incident has also raised concerns about the safety and security of patrons at nightclubs and bars. Mezo Noir’s management has announced a temporary shutdown of operations pending investigations.

As the investigation continues, Martha’s family and friends will continue to seek justice and answers about her tragic death.
