The awards ceremony, held at the Nairobi Serena Hotel, celebrated trailblazers from across the continent, with Lubogo being recognized for his unmatched contribution to legal education, critical scholarship, and innovation in postcolonial African jurisprudence.

Lubogo, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Sui Generis Legal Legacy, has authored over 70 groundbreaking legal and philosophical texts, widely regarded as essential reading for students, legal professionals, and scholars across Africa. His work focuses on redefining legal systems to reflect African values, realities, and historical experiences.

Although Lubogo could not attend the event in person, he was represented by Mr. Maganda Evans Tabingwa and Mr. Tusiimukye Daniel, who received the award on his behalf. In a message delivered during the ceremony, Lubogo expressed deep gratitude for the recognition. “This award is not just for me, it’s a recognition of the power of knowledge to shape society and create justice,” he stated. “I dedicate this honor to my students, colleagues, and every African scholar who dares to question, innovate, and rebuild.”

This award adds to Lubogo’s impressive list of accolades, including being named Researcher of the Year at the Africa Legal Tech and Innovation Awards in 2022. SMEGAfrica established the Excellence Awards to celebrate African excellence in law, academia, media, and leadership.

According to organizers, Lubogo’s recognition reflects a growing movement to center African voices in shaping the continent’s legal and academic future. “Lubogo’s writings and advocacy continue to inspire a new generation of African scholars.

Lubogo’s dedication to building a more just and inclusive legal system rooted in African identity is paving the way for lasting change. His award is a symbol of Africa’s intellectual awakening and a reminder that legal scholarship can be a powerful tool for justice and transformation.
