The Youth Platform Africa (YPA) organization recently held a sensitization function for farmers engaged in beekeeping, goat rearing, and small-scale farming. The event, which took place at Kololo ceremonial grounds, aimed to equip farmers with knowledge on how to improve their projects within their small SACCO groups.
The function, which started at 9 am, was attended by numerous farmers from different SACCO groups despite the unfavorable weather. In his remarks, Joseph Kateete, YPA’s Vice General Manager, emphasized the potential of bee keeping as a lucrative business. “Bees are such a good business when you know what to do,” he told the bee keepers.
Kateete shared valuable tips on building artificial hives and harvesting honey for business. He also advised goat rearers to prioritize proper feeding to ensure maximum profits, noting that “we all know, we reap what we sow.” The YPA official urged farmers to maintain their spirits and enthusiasm, encouraging those interested in joining YPA to register with Centenary Bank.
“We have 82 branches around the country, making it easier for members to join,” Kateete said, adding that Centenary Bank offers financial aid to farmers nationwide. This, he noted, would be a significant advantage for YPA members.
The event was part of YPA’s 17th-anniversary celebrations, during which the organization extended a business hand to the farming community. Obed Ben, YPA’s General Manager, was also present at the function.
The farmers left the event with new knowledge and hope to improve their projects and businesses. The sensitization function demonstrated YPA’s commitment to empowering farmers and promoting agricultural development in the country.
