Prof. Francis Kasekende Delivers his Inaugural Lecture

Nkumba University secretary, Dr. Francis Kasekende has today, 30th September 2022 deliverd his inaugural lecture shortly after beeing installed as a professor of Organizational Behavior and Development at University’s main hall.

With close to 200 people in attendence, the inaugural lecture attracted senior Professors, Associate Professors, Doctors and Doctoral scholars, students and the general public.

Under the theme, Transcending barriers to academic and professional excellence through leveraging strength based approaches, Professor Kasekende ably delivered delved into prospective aspects required to attain excellence in any organizational work space.

The now professor of Organizational Behavior and Organizational Development, further thanked everyone for choosing to be part of his life changing occasion and witnessing his ascension to prrofessorship.

Professor Kasekende further revealed that, “My journey to this academic stair has not been smooth.” adding that, “There are always probable barriers to excellence and these may include; poor time management, failure to set goals, failure to make decisions on priorities, Undecideness to attend to tasks and financial constraints but the source of all these is that humans think negatively, their is alaway an impeding mind set that the world is full of obstacles.”

One thing I learnt the hard way is that, we should always look for the positive in that way, we can easily scan and spot the opportunities around us,” he added.

Nkumba University Vice Chancellor, Professor Jude Lubega noted that “This is a very good day in the history of Nkumba University because one of our very own is attaining the highest rank in academia. He is a great scholar who has published a lot of academic work. The story of professor Kasekende is very amusing and it shows how one can transcend to the highest limit through hard work, as Nkumba University, we congratulate Professor Kasekende for this milestone.”

“A passion for learning is the cornerstone of success but it takes a special person to carry that passion through their careers. Professor Francis Kasekende is one of those special people who have exhibited hard work, determination and perseverance along this distinguished career path ” said Dr. Dalton. E. Ssegawa, Chairperson, University council.

Speaking on behalf of the executive director National Council for higher Education, Deputy Executive Director Dr. Alex Kagume louded Nkumba university council for initiating and implementing staff development policies that are in line with National Council for Higher Education guideline.

“This afternoon, we are witnessing yet another occasion in career advancement for a celebrated Academic manager and professional in the names of prof. Kasekende, Francis, PhD. On behalf of NCHE, on behalf of the Executive Director for NCHE, on my own behalf, I take this opportunity to congratulate you professor Francis on reaching the highest ladder in the teaching profession. Congratulations,” he added.

An Inaugural Lecture is an occasion during which Universities acknowledge and install newly appointed or promoted professors.

Professor commonly abbreviated as Prof. is the highest academic rank. Derived from Latin as a ‘person who professes’. They are usually experts in their field with a track record of academic prowess.


Professor Francis Kasekende becomes the 7th high ranking Academician installed as a professor at Nkumba University.

Simon Peter Nashonji
Nashonji Simon Peter is a dynamic and multi-faceted team leader, renowned for his exceptional interpersonal skills. Having graduated with a Diploma in Journalism, Nashonji is on the cusp of completing his Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Public Relations at Nkumba University. He picked his niche and started writing with Chimp Reports in 2018. Since then, he has authored and published over 500 articles that cover Business trends, Politics, Health, Sports, and Environment. To master his craft, Nashonji offered to volunteer as an Editor of Nkumba University's News Website in 2022, a position he has held to date. On 1st July 2023, He joined the Editorial team of Ubuntu’ Magazine, a Rotary District 9214 (Uganda and Tazania) Monthly News product. Beyond the realm of academia, Nashonji is deeply involved in the governance of Airforce Senior Secondary School his Alma Mata, where he serves as a member on the Board of Directors. He is currently, the President Airforce S.S.S Alumni Society, President Samia Student's Association of Nkumba University and at the same time President of the Media Challenge Fellowship, 2023 cohort. "Opportunities multiply as they are seized and only dwindle when neglected."

  1. We need more of such academicians who can help touch the lives of individuals.Some concepts put up on papers keeps on touching our life always and forever. Prof Francis, we have alot of hope in you and Simon Peter, please continue helping us in being analytical in journalism of the modern World. MGBU always?
