UCU pulled one back through Ssewanyana Sharif in the 48th minute.

In a match played on a sunny afternoon at Lugogo both teams started on a high seeking to gain early advantage.

It was Nkumba who found the breakthrough first , Ssebadduka Kennedy slotting the ball into the back of the net to give the beach boys a 1-0 lead sending the beach boys fans in a Frenzy.

With the 1-0 commanding lead, Nkumba university gained momentum as UCU seemed to have lost composure, goalkeeper Wesonga John Collins handling the ball outside his box only to be sent off in the 21st minute.

The substituted goalkeeper received a tough welcome, Ismael Lubega netting the second for the beach boys through a well taken freekick.

Few minutes later Nkumba added on their tally , Isaac Musuga rising high to meet Kennedy Ssewankambo’s well taken corner to make it 3-0.

For the remaining minutes of the first half it was Nkumba still reigning supreme and UCU totally outclassed.

In the second half, the Cardinals returned with a better mindset pulling one back through Ssewanyana Sharif to reduce on Nkumba’s tally.

The goal seemed to have motivated the Cardinals, producing various chances but could not beat Nkumba university’s goalkeeper John Andrew Obwana.

The beach boys too set up a couple of goal scoring opportunities, but failed to bury any the match ending 3-1.

With the win Nkumba clinched it’s maiden university football league trophy having not won it in the past editions despite reaching the finals both in 2013 and 2016.

Coach Bbosa Sulaiman also makes history as one of the few coaches that have ever won the title.
