Nkumba University’s Lecturer and Former Law Student Win Big at the Africa Legal Awards

Dr. Isaac Christopher Lubogo, a Law lecturer at Nkumba University beat thousands of other Law researchers across Africa to win the Researcher of the Year Award at the prestigious Africa Legal Tech and Innovation Awards ceremony that took place in the capital-Nairobi on Tuesday, 29th November 2022.

The ceremony also saw Innocent Benjamin Ahimbisibwe, a former law Student from Nkumba University clinch the Student Law Tech Person of the year award for his numerous legal articles written and published in newspapers, research journals and Websites.

Ahimbisibwe, who is on a Bar course at the Lira based Law Development center said that the award has proven to him that success sometimes comes earlier than anticipated, “I feel blessed to be young and already achieving on such a big stage. I always thought, getting a job and gaining a working experience is what would make me successful but this award has proven to me that there’s no specific rule to achieving anything. At 24, I have achieved what people got at 45, I am grateful to God.”

Innocent attributes his success to sister Margaret Magoba who sacrificed her all to see him thrive through amidst scarcity, his Alma Mater-Nkumba university and lecturers most especially Dr. Lubogo who he said deserves special gratitude.

Dr. Lubogo was recognized for his brilliant innovations that eased access to legal materials through his much coveted siugeneris Law app encompassing over 300 law books and thousands of Legal materials used for research and legal studies.

A lawyer and a Doctor Of law Fellow is optimistic that the future of law has been demysfied thanks to those who joined him in embracing technological innovation.

“I look at my self as a servant who is only simplifying the legal world for all to comprehend, I am grateful to God that my innovations have not only helped people understand the legal sphere but also been recognized at an international stage, I pride in this because the a ward found me deserving.” Said Dr. Lubogo.

Dr. Lubogo has authored over 20 law books and is concurrently pursuing a Doctor of laws at Makerere University, Doctor Of Phylosophy in Psychology at Nkumba University and Doctor Of Phylosophy in Law at Kampala International University.

The Africa Legal Tech and Innovation Awards seek to acknowledge exceptional achievements and ground-breaking strides in the world of law and technology. The awards recognize individuals working in the Law Tech space in Africa, including lawyers, policymakers, Researchers and innovators.These awards continue to showcase incredible talent and recognize more of pan-African legal innovations every year at different host countries.

Nashonji Simon Peter is a dynamic and multi-faceted team leader, renowned for his exceptional interpersonal skills. Having graduated with a Diploma in Journalism, Nashonji is on the cusp of completing his Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Public Relations at Nkumba University.
