The Gunners impressively moved into a 7-point lead at the top of the premier league table with a 4-2 victory against Brighton on Saturday.

Draws for Manchester City and Newcastle United earlier gave the Gunners a chance to increase their lead at the summit.

Crystal Palace garnered 3 crucial points in their final game of 2022 with a 2-0 win against Bournemouth. Both goals came from first-half set pieces.

In other matches played on New year’s eve, the on form Newcastle shared a stalemate at home against Leeds, West Harm suffered a 0-2 loss at Brentford and Liverpool edged Leicester 2-1.

Today, Aston villa Stunned Tottenham 2-0 as former Arsenal coach, Unai Emery starts the year with a win. Aston Villa goals came from Emiliano Buendia and Douglas Luiz in the 50th and 73rd minute.

Today, Chelsea will be looking to start the year with a win as they travel to City ground to lock horns with Nottingham Forest.

A moment of silence was observed in all matches in tribute to the fallen football legend Arantes do Nascimento alias Pele.
