China Town at Akamwesi has been a busy spot with thousands frequenting the supermarket for freebies and discounted merchandise.
The three-story shopping complex is a haven for bargain hunters, with a wide range of products on offer, from household items to electronics, furniture, and even golfing equipment.
Jeremiah Kukiriza, a resident of Kasangati, was among the many shoppers who flocked China Town during the Holy Thursday. “This reminds me of Game shopping mall, but at a more hyped level,” he said. “The products are relatively affordable, and there’s a variety to pick from. I’ve been marveled by the range of products available, and to my surprise, there’s even a hardware section with hardware tech machines, and they’re affordable.”
China Town is not your ordinary hypermarket. With golfing equipment, drones, sports products, and music instruments all under one roof, it’s a one-stop shopping location that saves customers the hassle of navigating crowded markets and dealing with pushy vendors. The sheer size of the shopping complex is impressive, with each floor spanning almost half an acre of land, filled with products and narrow aisles.
However, shoppers may need to watch their wallets, as the affordable prices and vast array of products can tempt even the most disciplined shopper. “As Ugandans, we always look out for that deal on commodities, and so often we find ourselves buying what we don’t need but out of excitement and hype through social media and friends as well,” one shopper noted.
Despite the potential for overspending, China Town is undoubtedly a shopper’s paradise, offering something for everyone. With its Easter promotion found traction as people from all corners of the country.
