On June 14th, 2025, a team from Nkumba University, visited St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Naggalama for the Careers day and exhibition. In addition to St. Joseph’s Secondary School. The team interacted with students from Senior four, five and Senior Six, guiding them on career opportunities and providing critical help on how to make informed decisions about their future careers.
During the interaction sessions, HE Gideon Mwanje emphasized the importance of four key elements in achieving success in one’s career: mentorship, passion , faith in God, and leadership. He stressed that preparation is key to achieving a successful career, encouraging the students to start preparing early.
He further stressed that Catherine Whiteone said that get something you like to do most, and look for someone to pay you for doing it, Adhering to the key principle of passion.
The Nkumba University team presented the university as a nurturing environment for students to develop their careers. They encouraged the students to take advantage of the university’s resources and programs to achieve their academic and professional goals.
While interacting with Japheth Godwin Walakira, a journalist and graduate from Nkumba University, emphasized students with passion in journalism to go ahead and study the course so that they learn basics in Camera operation.
The visit was well-received by the students, who appreciated the guidance and advice shared by the Nkumba University team. According to the head Teacher of St. Joseph’s Secondary School, she averred the importance of careers day as means of preparing students for their future careers.
Teachers of St. Joseph’s Secondary School thanked Nkumba University for nurturing the next generation. The interaction provided a great opportunity for the students to learn more about career opportunities and the importance of making informed decisions about their future not to forget various courses available at Nkumba University.
