Mawanda made the appeal during open campaigns yesterday, promising to transform Nkumba University into a haven of academic excellence.

With a strong background in leadership and extensive experience in humanitarian service as a Rotarian, Mawanda is confident in his ability to deliver results for the students.

Many say, his slogan, “Mawanda For the people,” reflects his vision for a leadership that truly serves the students. “I am a very deliberate leader with a passion to create a society that is proud of its leadership and a leadership that serves the people,” asserts Mawanda.

Mawanda believes effective leadership requires merging offices and leadership to achieve efficiency and effectiveness. “There is a difference between the offices and leadership, those two must be merged for effectiveness and efficiency. And that’s something I believe I can do, and that’s why I am running for office,” he emphasized.

As a guild president, Mawanda sees himself as an agent for the students, advocating for their rights and seeking solutions to their problems. “A guild president is an agent for the students who advocates rights for students and a solution seeker,” he said. He is confident that he has the abilities and qualities required to lead the guild. “Service above self is what I stand for. This office is a mandate given by the people for the people. That’s why I serve the people,” he added.

With his vision, leadership skills, and commitment to serving others, Mawanda Derrick is poised to make a strong bid for the guild presidency. Despite facing strong opposition from Katende Muhammed and Alinda Marvin in today’s elections, Mawanda’s supporters are optimistic that their candidate will take the victory.
