The Inter-University Art and Fashion Challenge 2025 is set to take place on August 15th, 2025, under the theme “Re-Imagine Fashion.” Talented students from universities, colleges, and tertiary institutions across Uganda are being called upon to register and participate in the challenge.
According to Nalwoga Cerinah Kasirye, Team Lead at Trillion Looks, the event organizer, the challenge offers a unique opportunity for students to present their creative vision to a wider audience and gain invaluable insight into the industry. “The Inter-University Fashion Challenge offers a unique opportunity for students to present their creative vision to a wider audience and gain invaluable insight into the industry. Bring your A game and let’s go for it,” Nalwoga urged.
The challenge features five distinct design categories: Heritage, Modernity, Eco-Fashion, Inclusive Fashion, and Urban Vs Ghetto. Participants will compete for top prizes and earn awards, including certificates of participation, mentorship opportunities with industry professionals, internship opportunities, and access to Afri Art and Fashion.
To participate, students need to team up in a five-member team from the same university, each designing a fashion piece per category. The challenge is open to students with a passion for fashion, and organizers urge interested students to participate and take the first step towards a successful career in the fashion industry. Students have up to 23rd May to apply for this Challenge
This pioneering event is poised to become an annual fashion extravaganza, uniting talented designers from higher institutions of learning nationwide ahead of the annual Afri Fashion Show.
Event organizers say, the goal is to revolutionize the fashion industry by engaging industry players and providing a platform for emerging designers to showcase their talent, learn from industry professionals, and gain exposure.
Under Nalwoga’s leadership, Trillion Looks has made a tremendous impact on the fashion industry by nurturing creativity, promoting sustainable fashion practices, and empowering the next generation of fashionistas. Students have been encouraged to take this opportunity to push beyond creative boundaries and craft innovative and sustainable fashion and art pieces inspired by Uganda’s rich cultural heritage.
