A vibrant procession led by Katende Muhammad’s supporters wound its way through Bwaise on April 22nd, drawing a large crowd of followers. The event, which followed an internal debate between the three guild aspirants, including Mawanda Derrick and Alinda Marvin, was marred by excitement.
As Katende’s supporters made their way through Bwaise, the energy was infectious, with music systems blasting and chants of support filling the air. “We’re going to make some noise and show our support for Katende’s vision for a brighter future!” one supporter exclaimed.
However, the sheer number of participants and the energy of the event soon turned chaotic. The streets became congested, and the noise level escalated, causing traffic jams and difficulties for pedestrians navigating the crowded sidewalks.
Despite the challenges, the supporters remained optimistic. “We’re not just showing support for Katende, we’re building a community,” said another supporter. “We’re excited to work together towards a common goal.”
As the event concluded, the area was left in disarray, with trash littering the streets and some property damage reported. However, Katende’s team sprang into action to clean up the mess. “We’re committed to leaving a positive impact on the community,” Katende said. “We’ll work together to ensure our future events are both exciting and responsible.”
Local authorities appreciated the efforts to clean up. “We’re impressed by the team’s initiative to restore order,” said Isaac Mulindwa, the Nkumba University Security Officer.
Optimistic about the calm situation, Katende lauded students for the great spirit of unity. “It’s a great example of community spirit and responsibility. We’ll continue to work together, supporting each other and our community,” Katende said. “Together, we can achieve great things.”
The event may have been chaotic, but it demonstrated the strong support Katende enjoys among his followers. As the guild aspirants continue their campaigns, it remains to be seen how their supporters will conduct themselves in the lead-up to the elections.
