When Kampala Businessman Hamis Kigundu took over the Nakivubo stadium project, many doubts arose whether the much anticipated project will be a success, however Kigundu proved them wrong.
The city tycoon transformed the historical stadium from it’s earlier shambles to a state of the art facility which can host different sports disciplines such as Boxing, Basketball, netball and ofcourse football.
The facility also compromise of a state of the art gym and refurbished high standard dressing rooms.
However all this shall be showcased on 1st June in an emphatic style.
The reopening will include various activities in two football games one at 4:00pm between Western Ugandan Giants Kitara FC and URA and the other at 7:00pm between two historical rivals in Express FC and UPL champions SC Villa.
The boxing segment will also host two fixtures first Isaac Zebra Ssenyange taking on Ibrahim Kitaka and a kickboxing encounter between the famous Moses Golola and Semata Umaru.
Other games such as netball and basketball are expected to be played.
The day will also feature performances from various Ugandan artists like Alien Skin, Bebe cool, Sheebah, Eddy Kenzo, David Lutalo, Fik Fameica and many others.
Nakivubo was commissioned fully by the President of the Republic of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni late last month after it’s closure in 2017.
The president thanked Hamis Kigundu for the good work constructing a state of the art facility.
