On 19th June 2026, Nkumba University’s Marketing Department participated in the annual Careers Day at Mackay Memorial College, Nateete.
The purpose of the visit was to guide students on different career paths and opportunities available to them, while emphasizing that Nkumba University, with its competence-based learning courses, is the right choice for their future studies.
During the event, the team held a careers talk with students and also engaged Senior Six students in one-on-one discussions about their dreams and passions. They further met with teachers to discuss how Nkumba University can support them in upgrading their careers. Fun activities were also organized for the lower classes, making the day both educational and enjoyable.
The event reached about 2,000 students and 34 teachers.
One of the facilitators, Mwiine Andrew Kaggwa, said, “The world has changed and so is the academic landscape. The job market is looking for practice-oriented employees, which has pushed the education system to become more practical. At Nkumba University, we are doing just that, realigning to the Competence Based curriculum for the benefit of our students.”
Students also shared their appreciation for the visit. Joel Mikasa, an S.6 candidate, said, “I thank Nkumba University for choosing our school and personally, I was inspired by the art of molding and painting. I am compelled to join Nkumba University after here.”
Another student, Nassuna Mulhat, also in Senior Six, said, “I have been having questions about law since it is my passion, and today I have been inspired by the wide knowledge the course offers. I really want to do this with Nkumba University.”
The Careers Day was a successful opportunity for Nkumba University to connect with students and teachers, while showcasing the importance of practical, competence-based education.
