Nkumba University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jude Lubega, has advised new students to develop a study-life balance in order to achieve their academic goals.
While addressing freshers during an orientation exercise on Friday, Prof. Lubega cautioned that university life can be challenging, but with discipline and focus, students can succeed.
“University life is tricky, more of a ‘laissez-Faire’, you are allowed to do anything you want, but I appeal to you, do the right thing one at a time,” Prof. Lubega said. “When it is time for studies, study, and when it is time for co-curricular activities, deliver on that. Balance your books and your academic obligations if you are to have a successful tenure here.”

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of time management and prioritization, urging students to make the most of their time at the university.
“We want to graduate you at the end of your two-year, three-year, or four-year study tenure here,” Prof. Lubega said. “Once again, thank you for choosing Nkumba University. I welcome you and wish you the very best of luck.”
Earlier, the Dean of Students had addressed the freshers, encouraging them to utilize the orientation period to familiarize themselves with their respective schools, meet their classmates, and navigate the campus.

The freshers also took the University’s oath of academic integrity, pledging to uphold the institution’s rules and regulations, safeguard intellectual property rights, and bring honor to the university’s good name.
“I shall keep and abide by all the University rules and regulations, always doing my best to protect the intellectual property rights and to bring honor to the good name of the University, so help me God,” the students recited in unison.
The orientation exercise is an annual event organized by the Dean of Students to help freshers transition seamlessly into university life.
