Nkumba University’s School of Social Sciences (SOSS) held its Annual Dinner on Saturday, 2nd May 2026, at Admas Grand Hotel in Entebbe under the theme, “Unity in Diversity: Celebrating Social Sciences Together.”
The colorful event brought together students, lecturers, and leaders at the School of Social Sciences in a celebration aimed at promoting togetherness, inclusivity, and unity within the institution.
During the dinner, Ayebare Cristone was sworn in as the new SOSS President, marking the beginning of a new chapter in student leadership at the school. In his acceptance speech, Cristone pledged to build on the foundation laid by his predecessors. “Thank you for entrusting me with this noble responsibility. I pledge to build on what we already have, not to break it. Together, in unity and diversity, we shall move forward,” he said.
Outgoing SOSS President Kivumbi Edward thanked those in attendance and called for continued unity, “Promoting unity in diversity is important. As a school, we come together to celebrate, and we hope to make this an annual unifying activity for the School,” he said.
Speaking at the event, the School Dean, Dr. Anne Abaho, emphasized the important role social scientists play in society and encouraged students to uphold values of tolerance and inclusivity. “The fact that we are social means we are expected to be tolerant, inclusive, and willing to guide others. Social scientists are key in making impactful contributions to our society,” she noted.
The first of its kind, the SOSS Annual Dinner will now be held every year and organized by the School of Social Sciences Society leadership.
