Watermelons are one of the most interesting fruits to eat and find all around the word. Have you ever asked yourself what benefits you would achieve just from one taste of this fruit? If one is to go in a market and look at all the stalls, you wouldn’t fail to notice that it is everywhere and sold at the most cheap prices depending on the sizes it comes.

Let’s talk about this fruit in detail. A watermelon is a flowering plant species of cucurbitaceae family. It is highly cultivated worldwide with more than 1000 varieties. This fruit has a sweet juicy flesh which is usually deep red to pink with many black seeds although there are some seedless varieties that exist too. It can be eaten raw or pickled.

There are many health benefits that come along with eating a watermelon. Watermelon is a source good source of antioxidants and nutrients in addition to supporting hydration due to its high levels of water content . It helps you to stay hydrated therefore eating foods with high water content may give your body the water it needs. The watermelon comprises 92% water making it a great choice for daily water intake.

Watermelons are sources of vitamin C, carotenoids , lycopene and cucurbitacin. These compounds help to combat free radicals which are unstable molecules that may damage your cells if they accumulate in your body leading to diabetes, heart disease and cancer(prostate , colorectal cancer)
Watermelon has citrulline, amino acid and May increase nitric oxide levels in your body which helps your body vessels expand and lowers the blood pressure.

Lastly the watermelon helps to relieve muscle soreness and helps to expand blood vessels so that your heart doesn’t need to work hard to pump blood through your body.

Like the saying goes an Apple a day keeps the doctor away but I think if we took more watermelons at least three times a day, that would be better than having to worry about drinking water all the time because a watermelon has almost all the water you need. Think about this.

A watermelon can be consumed as a juice or an ingredient mixed in beverages. Watermelons are originally cultivated for their high water content and were stored to be eaten during dry seasons not only as a food source but as a method of storing water too.
