In a bid to support students who may be struggling with financial constraints, Nkumba University announced that it will be granting 500 scholarships to eligible candidates.
The scholarships, which were announced last week, are now open to students who have completed their Advanced level Education. In order to be eligible, candidates must have obtained at least 2 principle passes.
Francis Ssengendo, the Quality Assurance Director at the University, explained that the scholarship will cover 50% of tuition fees for the entire 3-year duration of a Bachelor’s Degree program. However, he clarified that the scholarships are currently only applicable to Bachelor’s degrees.

The university’s Deputy Academic Registrar, John William Otim, stressed the significance of becoming a student before applying for the scholarship. He urged prospective applicants to apply for admission first and then register for the scholarship as the opportunity lasts though limited.
“It is important to note that the scholarships are limited to degree-level programs and are available to a maximum of 500 beneficiaries on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, not all applicants will be awarded a scholarship. The offer is exclusively for Bachelor’s degrees offered through the day session and scales for only the first 500 eligible applicants.” Said Otim.
News of the scholarship offer has been positively received, with many expressing gratitude to the university for its consideration in supporting students. “Allow me take this opportunity to thank the Administration of Nkumba University. As a community we are realy thankful the grate work your rendering to our Country.” Said Waswa Arafat, a resident of Nkumba.
Nkumba University is a private, non-profit, and non-secular institution with a vision to become a leading hub for academic and professional excellence on a national, regional, and global level.
In the wake of COVID-19, the University was among the very few institutions to hover through the challenges posed by the pandemic with the introduction of the Nkumba University Electronic Learning (NUEL) program, ensuring students could continue their education remotely.
