Nkumba University’s guild campaigns took an unexpected turn yesterday when Alinda Marvin, a Guild Presidential aspirant, surprised the crowd with a live performance by Uganda’s music sensation, Bennie Gunter. The event, held at the Guild gardens, drew a massive turnout, with students going wild as Bennie took the stage.

Dressed in his signature street style, Bennie performed some of his biggest hits, including “No Letting Go” and “Olina Work.” The crowd sang along and danced to the music, with some students even wearing yellow outfits to show their enthusiasm. Bennie’s performance was not just about entertainment; he also urged students to vote for Alinda Marvin. “If you vote for Alinda, you will continue enjoying a lot, like musicians coming to entertain you,” he said, drawing cheers from the crowd.

Alinda Marvin, known for his creative approach to leadership, outlined his plans for the university. “I will launch a market to promote business and create a strong media team to publish what’s happening on campus,” he said. He also promised to organize sports competitions and a mega cultural gala to promote talent and culture. “Cultural gala is not just about dancing cultural dances, but also tells people more about the dos and don’ts of their culture,” he explained.

The event was attended by notable guests, including the Dean of Students, Mr. Kimuli Christopher, and the Guild Electoral Commission Secretary. Despite the excitement, security remained tight throughout the event.

Students were thrilled by the surprise performance, with many praising Alinda Marvin’s creativity. “Alinda has just shown us he can think outside the box. This is the energy we need in the guild,” said Derrick Mugisha. Prossy Kirabo added, “This entertainment is my best for the evening.”

However, the excitement came with some challenges, as some students who wanted to capture a selfie moment found it difficult to take pictures with their favorite musician. “I really wanted to capture a moment with Beenie, but it was a bit difficult,” said Kizza Viola.

Bennie Gunter also shared words of wisdom, encouraging students to support leaders who value unity and creativity. “You guys are the future. Vote for someone who listens, who inspires, and who brings good vibes,” he said, before signing off with his popular catchphrase, “Gun Talk!”

The event has generated significant online buzz, with many believing Alinda Marvin’s campaign has gained momentum thanks to the surprise. As voting day closes in, all eyes will be on whether this energy translates into votes. One thing is certain
