Dr. Ssuleiman Bbosa, the Director – Nkumba University Kampala Campus, urged the February 2024 intake students to foster positive relationships among themselves during an orientation held at the campus’s main hall today.
Emphasizing the significance of cooperation between students and lecturers, Dr. Bbosa highlighted its role in creating a conducive and harmonious learning environment, essential for academic success. “The relation between you, your peers, and lecturers is key for your success; please cooperate.” Urged Dr. Bbosa.
He further implored students to leverage every resource the university provides to fulfill their academic aspirations, highlighting the necessity of maximizing the opportunities at their disposal.
Abdalla Kayonde, the Kampala Campus Guild Governor, reassured students of the leadership’s commitment to serving the student community. “As your leaders, we are here to serve you and provide valuable information as you embark on your academic journey.”
Kayonde urged students to seek guidance when needed and, most importantly, adhere to the university’s rules and regulations.
Students were introduced to the university’s IT systems by the University’s IT Director, Mr. Kato Musa.
Mr. Kato explained that, the unique student number assigned upon admission serves as a student’s identifier which eases access to various university e-resources, including the Internet.
Mr. Kato guided students in navigating e-resources such as Aims, the University student portal, Tredumo, and the Nkumba University E-Learning Environment.
CPA Patrick Oleja, the University Bursar, reminded students of their financial responsibilities, urging them to be intentional in meeting their monetary obligations.
Speaking on behalf of all Deans, Dr. Anne Abaho lauded the new students for choosing Nkumba University. “I want to thank you for choosing NU, particularly Kampala Campus. We pledge to serve you with diligence,” she affirmed.
Dr. Abaho provided guidance on fulfilling academic obligations, highlighting the mandatory nature of attending classes.
As the orientation came to an end, students collectively took an oath of allegiance, pledging to uphold their responsibilities and adhere to the university’s rules and regulations.
Orientation of new students takes place at the beginning of every organized by by Guild leader in collaboration with the Office of the Dean of Students.
The Dean of Students, Mr. Christopher Kimuli told students that his office is responsible for their welfare and should never hesitate to reach him where need be.
