Both teams started the game on a low note, but it was St. Mary’s who quickly found rhythm and started penetrating the Beach Boys’ defense.

Despite the valiant efforts, the Beach Boys’ defense couldn’t fend off the hungry strikers.

In the 30th minute, St. Mary’s launched a counterattack before the striker was fouled in the goal keeper’s box earning his team a penalty.

The penalty was expertly converted by Torach Rodgers, giving St. Mary’s the crucial lead in the first half.

Beach Boys nearly earned a goal through a perfectly curled in corner but the attempt went wide.

The game ended 1-0 in favour of St. Mary’s Kitende.

Speaking after the match, St. Mary’s Head Coach, Joachim Mukungu, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance. “This win means a lot to us. The boys executed the plan perfectly and we capitalized on our chances,” said Mukungu.

Adding that, “This victory will undoubtedly boost our confidence as we prepare to travel to Rwanda for the East African games. “

Beach Boys Head Coach, Suleiman Bosa, remained optimistic despite the loss. “We have just returned and this was our first game. We conceded in the first half and failed to recover. This loss is a wake-up call for us. We now know where we need to improve and we will recruit within our budget as we prepare for the upcoming University Premier League,” Bosa explained.

Despite the narrow defeat, the Beach Boys are poised to make a strong comeback in the Pepsi University Premier League later next month.

The friendly match served as final warm-up game for St.Mary’s ahead of the East African games scheduled to take place in Rwanda.

The team will be traveling today to represent Uganda jointly with Royal Giant, Amus College, and Kibuli SS.

The Beach Boys have been out of action and their return means the resumption of vigorous training.

St. Mary’s Kitende victory against the Beach Boys validates their readiness and sets a positive tone for their upcoming tournament in Rwanda.
