An own goal by Tonny Ndase in the 12th minute was enough to brighten Nkumba’s qualifications hopes going into the second leg next week on Tuesday.

In a game played on a sunny afternoon, it was the visitors that started the game on a high, Bbosa sulaiman’s charges showing more eager to claim advantage.

Despite creating different chances their opener could though come from an own goal.

A miscommunication from Kampala university goalkeeper Brian Ozele and Tonny Ndase who put the ball in his own net sending the beach boys fans in a Frenzy.

The beach boys later found the back of the net again through their marksman Mete Mamur Irivia but the goal could only be ruled out for offside ending the first half 1-0.

In the second half it was Kampala university that sparked off on a high, taking the ball to the Nkumba university defense who seemed to had withdrawn their attacks something Bbosa Sulaiman described as a tactical discipline.

” We had already taken the lead in the first half, the game was already in our hands we couldn’t see any reason to continue attacking. So we adopted a defending approach since even our number 2 was not playing in his natural position.”

Bbosa’s tactical approach though could invite Kampala university to navigate to the beach boys backline forcing them to concede a penalty.

However Tom Ndase failed to capitalize hitting the post denying his side s chance to level matters.

Kampala university kept heaping pressure on the beach boys defense, forcing Nkumba university’s goalkeeper John Andrew Obwana to come out big to keep the beach boys in the game.

Perhaps its for this reason that Bbosa believes they were not at their best.

” We have made many mistakes in the game which we need to work on going into the second fixture. We have given out many chances just that we were lucky that Kampala university failed to capitalize. Going into the second fixture we need to make sure that we don’t make such mistakes.”

Despite the different goal scoring opportunities Kampala university failed to capitalize in the second half, Nkumba university walking away with a 1-0 Advantage.

With this win, the beach boys seem to have put a leg into the Pepsi UFL finals but headcoach Bbosa Sulaiman accertains there is still more to do

” Yes we have won here we are so happy for the win. Picking a win here gives us an advantage going in the second leg at our turf in Entebbe where we’ve never lost a game.”

“But I believe there is still more to do this is football I believe the game is still open so we will not slack off we will come back stronger and more prepared for the second leg” he said

The second leg will happen on Tuesday next week at the Beach boys Arena in Entebbe.

The winner will face face whoever qualifies between Uganda Christian university and Makerere university Business school in the other Semi final fixture.
