Joseph Dinya gave the baboons an early lead after curling Opi Gabriel’s cross past Nkumba University’s stopper in the 2nd minute. The beach boy’s Captain, Kennedy Ssewakambo responded 14 minutes later converting a penalty to level affairs giving his side a sigh of relief. As the first stanza of the game ended, the game was level.

In the second half the beach boys returned stronger. Nkumba university football team increased the pressure with an instant cross from their captain that left Busitema university’s defense gasping for air.

Emmanuel Ongu Busitema’s goal man made several saves to deny the hosts a winning shot but in the 78th minute, the beach boys managed to break through when Joshua Komori scored a winning goal by taping in Buruhani Tasumba’s free kick.

Nkumba University now moves to second place in group A with seven points while Busitema remains in third place. Wednesday 19th February 2025 Bugema University will host KIU in Group D.

The beach boys will be back in action next week against newcomers, ISBAT University.
