Entebbe – Nkumba University today hosted students from Kisaana Senior Secondary School, Kalungu District, for a study tour which saw the University showcase its ICT capabilities and create awareness about its programs.
The team of close to 50 students, comprising S.3, S.4, and A-level students, had a firsthand interaction with the Director ICT and toured the university’s ICT facilities, including the Server Room, Computer Labs, Network Infrastructure, and the E-Learning Studio.
According to Mr. Kato Mustafa, this study tour is one of the many ways the university can showcase its ICT capabilities and create awareness about its programs. “We are excited to share our expertise with the students and inspire them to pursue careers here,” he said.

During the tour, Mr. Joseph Lwevuze, the Nkumba University eLearning officer, engaged the students in an elaborative interaction, explaining how the eLearning hub supports teaching and learning at the university.
“This is our content digitalization hub, donated to us by Cyber School in partnership with Mastercard Foundation. Here, we do most of the university’s multimedia production, help lecturers create and digitalize content,” Mr. Lwevuze explained.
The visiting students had the opportunity to ask questions, with Namugerwa Firidaus seeking clarity on how the university can help their budding journalism and debating club.
In response, Mr. Lwevuze assured the students that the university would support them in publishing their stories if well-crafted stories with guidance from their teachers.
“We are glad that you have given us the onus to learn from you,” said Namugerwa Firidaus, adding that “we have gained valuable ideas to improve not only our skills but also support our colleagues who have not been able to make it here.”
Kasibante Eric thanked the university management for being considerate and for providing them with free career guidance, “This is free career guidance, we have learnt that Passion is key in everything that we do. I want to thank you for the guidance.”
The study tour provided a valuable learning experience for the students, offering them insights into the university’s ICT capabilities and career opportunities in a variety of fields, plus free career guidance.
