On Saturday, 27th September 2025, Nkumba University joined Kisubi Schools for their annual Careers Day, in a session that also brought together students from St. Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK).
The colorful event featured seasoned industry practitioners who shared insights on the fast-changing landscape of work and guided Scholars on how to prepare for 21st-century career paths.
Representing Nkumba University were Mr. Gideon Mwanje, Ms. Lamulah Nangendo, and Ms. Martha Nakayiza, who interacted with the students and offered practical advice on life beyond secondary school.
Speaking to students, Mr. Mwanje emphasized the importance of aligning passion with discipline. “The career world today requires more than just academic papers. You must cultivate resilience, ethics, and adaptability if you are to thrive in your chosen fields,” he said.
As a Law graduand, Mwanje unpacked the realities of pursuing a Law degree.“Law is not only about standing in court,” he noted. “It is about research, writing, negotiation, and commitment to justice. The journey is demanding, but the rewards, both personal and societal, are immense.”
His colleague, Ms. Lamulah Nangendo, encouraged students to view higher education as a space of transformation rather than a mere continuation of classroom learning. “When you join a university, you are not just studying to pass exams. You are being shaped into a professional who can solve real-life problems. Preparing your mindset early will make the transition smoother,” she advised.
Teachers at Kisubi School lauded Nkumba University for taking the time to guide their students, emphasizing the value of receiving first-hand insights from peers who have already walked the path the learners aspire to follow one day.
The Careers Day, which has become a highlight on the school’s annual calendar, continues to attract institutions and professionals committed to guiding high school students into fruitful academic path.
