A body of a female passenger was seemingly lifeless only supported by the bus seat.

On being notified by the conductor, the driver then put the journey on a hault and proceeded to Mbarara Police Station where he reported the incident.

He was swiftly instructed to drive and park at the Police station’s sportsground. “We can not confirm whether the body has injuries or not, but first park and make a statement.” Police detective was heard saying.

Stranded passengers remained in utter shock as the driver and a relative to the deceased made their way to the station to pen their statements. Some passengers were suggesting to have an alternative means to proceed with their journeys, others for fear of dear life.

Later, a team of Police forensic detectives dressed in protective gear retrieved the body to kickstarted investigations.

Preliminary findings have identified the deceased as Nandujja Hadijjah, a 36-year-old female adult and a businesswoman who has been working in Kigali, Rwanda.

Hadijjah had liver complications and was travelling to Mulago Hospital for treatment, in the company of a relative.

Public Relations Officer of Rwizi, ASP Kasasira Samson confirmed the incident and noted that investigations will be conducted to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

The body was conveyed to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem.
