TOIT programming language curriculum lauched

Nkumba University in partnership with the Chancellor’s innovation initiative -CII launched it’s first Tiot programming language curriculum, the first of it’s kind in the country.

The curriculum was made official during the ’embedded Systems Bootcamp’ that was presided over by the vice chancellor Prof. Jude Lubega.

The launch took place at University’s Old computer library on 20th June 2022.

Vice Chancellor, Professor Jude Lubega said that he is optimistic the programming will yield fruits and bolster a more practical approach to training great computers geniuses.
“This is to help stimulate student’s senses and engage them in programming using Toit, it is more practical therfore enjoy it and let’s get our hands dirty,” acsserted Professor Jude Lubega.

Toit is a modern, memory safe language with a state of the art editor integration including syntaxes with auto completions which when commanded, swiftly deploys codes on your device just in a second.

It is designed specifically for microcontrollers and optimised for live reloading. codes run incrementally as you write it and you get instant feedback. It can push changes over your local WiFi in a seconds and reserve your USB cable for charging your phone. You iterate quickly, learn fast, and build better things.

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Jude Lubega further advised students to utilize the availed opportunity through the boot camp to think outside the box and become more innovative in the computer panorama sought to be tomorrow’s memory safe language.

The Chancellor’s innovation initiative with it’s purpose to popularize innovativenes, avail and create conducive environment to propell innovators into the transformation of Uganda’s economy joined in to see the programming language curriculum take it’s baby steps with over 40 students in attendance.

Started in February 2022, The Chancellor’s innovation initiative’s sole purpose is to enhance innovativenes among students. It’s cooperate Partners include; Nkumba University, Stanbic Business Incubator and The Innovation Village.

Under the able leadership of the University’s Chancellor, Mr. Emmanuel Katongole, The initiative continues to nurture innovativenes which many believe will illuminate the University’s Academic decorum.
