Following the construction of an e-learning content digitalization hub, the Mastercard-Cyber school partnership returned to train Nkumba University policy makers and lecturers on e-learning pedagogy and policy formulation on the 7th and 8th September 2023.
The two-day training which aimed at equipping the institution’s policy makers and lecturers with skills necessary for effective instructional design, content development and policy formulation for e-learning was conducted by experts from Eight Tech Consults.
According to Dr. Drek Patrick Mirembe, a tech expert from Eight Tech Consults, the training was to help Nkumba University policy makers to develop a strategy that will,”set Nkumba University to the path of integrating e-learning in teaching.”
He further noted that, “we are here to build e-learning capacity for Nkumba University.’
Nkumba University’s E-Learning Officer, Mr. Joseph Lwevuze, pondered on the staff’s active participation in the E-Learning Training Sessions and also acknowledged the significant strides the university has made towards amplifying digital learning.
The training had two session running concurrently with one tailored to policymakers, empowering them with the skills required to develop an e-learning policy, and business model strategy that aligns with the university’s vision for the virtual future.
Another session saw over 200 teaching staff immersed in learning the art of integrating e-learning pedagogy into modern teaching methodologies.
The sessions were designed to empower lecturerers to harness the power of technology, ensuring that students receive the highest quality academic experience possible.
Speaking to Nkumba University news yesterday, the Assistant Academic Registrar, Mr. John William Otim was optimistic that the “training will help our policy makers to come up with functional e-learning policies and provide our teaching staff with skills to seamlessly integrate the aspect of virtue learning in their teaching method.”
Cyber School-Mastercard partnership aims at “implementing the e-learning initiative, a system strengthening program that is leveraging opportunities for the youth to access quality and market-relevant education and transition into meaningful and dignified work.”
Nkumba University is one of the 7 higher institutions of learning benefiting from the Cyber school-Mastercard partnership.
Last month, the partnership yielded the construction of a state-of-the-art studio poised to help lecturers and students with content creation and digitalization.
