Nashonji Simon Peter is a results-driven leader and versatile communications expert with a proven track record of excellence in journalism, public relations, and team management.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Public Relations, a Diploma in Journalism, and a Certificate in Counselling Psychology from Nkumba University. Currently, he is pursuing a Master's degree in Public Relations and Strategic Communication at Nkumba University.
Nashonji's journalism career spans over five years. With a notable debut at Chimp Reports in 2018, Nashonji has authored and published over 500 articles on business trends, politics, health, sports, and the environment. To hone his craft, he volunteered as Editor of Nkumba University's News Website in 2022, a position he still holds.
In 2023, Nashonji was selected among three students to represent Nkumba University at the year-long 2023 Media Challenge Fellowship, where he served as President of the cohort. Same year, he joined the Editorial team of Ubuntu Magazine, a Rotary District 9214 (Uganda and Tanzania) monthly news product.
He is currently the Assistant Public Relations Officer at Nkumba University, President, Airforce S.S.S Alumni Association, and at the same time President, Samia Student's Association of Nkumba University. He is also a member of the Board of Governors at Airforce Senior Secondary School, his alma mater.
Prior to his current roles, Nashonji accumulated valuable experience in management, having served as Supervisor at Crane Cafeteria (2019-2021), Restaurant General Manager at Pizza Hut Uganda (2016-2017), and Operations Manager at Corinya (U) Ltd (2010-2015).
Nashonji also served as President of the Rotaract Club of Rubaga in the 2014-2015 Rotary year. Under his leadership, the club made a significant contribution of $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation. Still in Rotary circles, he played a key role in the establishment of the Rotaract Club of Entebbe Airport in 2012 and the Rotaract Club of Nkumba Stewards in 2015.
A native of Buhauli village-Busia District, Nashonji is driven by the adage, "Opportunities multiply as they are seized and only dwindle when neglected."
