Former Deputy Commander of the Special Forces Command (SFC), Brig. General Charity Bainababo, has urged student leaders to actively contribute to Uganda’s development, emphasizing that every citizen has a role to play.
Brig. Gen. Bainababo said this while delivering a lecture at ongoing Higher Institutions of Learning student leaders’ patriotism training at Nkumba University today, stressing the multifaceted nature of national security in development.
“While we do what we signed up to do as the army, you also have a role to play for the growth and development of our country,” she stated. “Security is not only by the gun; we also have economic security, food security, and more.

The Brigadier General believes that collective efforts of individual Ugandans are vital for national progress. “Those who participated in the liberation did their part; we are the new generation, and we must carry on with the liberation effort,” she asserted.
She further appealed to the student leaders to prioritize garnering as much knowledge as possible during the training and plan to disseminate it within their communities.
“You can’t set your house on fire,” she cautioned. “Uganda is your country forever. Avoid activities that threaten the peace, growth, and development of your country.”
The training, which commenced yesterday, January 3, 2025, emphasizes the importance of civic responsibility and encourages young leaders to actively participate in building a better future for Uganda.
