The news of his sudden demise has sent shockwaves throughout the KIU community, with students expressing their condolences drawn in mourning the loss of a promising young leader.

KIU took it to Facebook to confirm the incidence, “It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely and sudden death of our student and Guild President at KIU Westen Campus, Matovu Douglas who perished in a car accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family. May his soul rest in peace.” The Facebook post reads in part.

It has been established that the impact of the collision was so severe leaving Matovu and his colleagues tangled in the car wreckage. The truck driver sustained minor injuries.

Emergency services were called to the scene, and Matovu was rushed to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The other occupants of the car, who sustained serious injuries, were also rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The cause of the accident is still unknown, and the police have launched an investigation to determine what led to the tragic incident.

He had served as Guild President for barely 2 month having sworn-in on 19th April, 2023.
