Nkumba University will be looking forward to picking a favorable result on Wednesday as they take on defending champions Uganda martyrs University in their first leg of their quarterfinals in this year’s edition of the Pepsi University football league.

The beach boys come in this fixture though as underdogs facing that Uganda martyrs side who have proved to be a powerhouse over the past editions .

Having won that title last year against st Lawrence the martyrs have remained a dominant side returning in this edition and finishing on top of their group with 14 points ahead of Bugema , Kabale and Kisubi universities.

The beach boys on the other side however have also proved to be better and improved side

Bbosa Sulaiman’s charges have been a team that has grown into the tournament.

Starting the tournament on a dead end with a 3-1 loss at St Lawrence in Kavule , the beach boys worked on  their game not loosing again in the group stages drawing once against IUEA in Kabalagala and picking as many points in the rest of the matches including that retaliational win against st Lawrence.

The beach boys have also proved to be a formidable side at home having lost only once in as many games played at home in the past two editions.

Bbosa’ s offensive hopes lie in Mamur Mete Irivia, Nkumba’s no 9  has put up  a very good performance in the group stages scoring atleast a goal against each team in the group.

Uganda martyrs University too however has not failed to pick points regardless of the turf they’ve been a performing side both at home away.

The first leg will take place on 28th (tomorrow) and the return leg later this month in Nkozi.
