NU Graduates to Benefit from Brighter Monday – Enabel Job Placement Program

Nkumba University graduates are set to benefit from a Job Placement Program that has been rolled out by Brighter Monday Uganda, a job-matching platform in partnership with Belgium based development agency, Enabel.

The initiative which aims to equip 150 young graduates with essential skills, knowledge, and support to jumpstart their careers, targets those who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in any field between 2022 and 2024.

According to a circular issued by Brighter Monday- Uganda, the Goal is to equip fresh graduates with in-demand job competence skills, “The program is tailored to meet the demands of today’s competitive job market, Participants will undergo self-paced training sessions focusing on crucial soft skills such as communication, problem-solving, and leadership.” Reads part of the circular.

The circular further states that, “The program places a strong emphasis on real-world experience and project work, providing participants with hands-on exposure in their respective fields.”

Orgnisers say, Enabel will sponsor the first six months of employment for successful candidates.

The move is part of a partnership announced on February 2, 2024, where Nkumba University Alumni Association, signed an MoU with Brighter Monday Uganda, to connect the institution’s graduates to career opportunities.

Mr. Jackson Ssonko, the Nkumba University Alumni Association President says, “the collaboration seeks to leverage all available means and ensure that graduates find dignifying jobs.”

Established in 2014, Brighter Monday Uganda is one of the largest job-matching platforms in the country, known to over 8,000 employers and managing a database of approximately 300,000 candidate profiles.

It is a subsidiary of The African Talent Company (TATC), addressing the talent gap in Africa through unique, home-grown solutions. Brighter Monday, will be running the project closely with Enabel, a development agency of Belgium’s federal government.

Enabel has previously partnered with industry leaders to implement the Skills, Attitude, Governance, and Anti-Corruption (SG+) project, addressing employability and productivity gaps among young graduates through a Work Readiness Program focusing on ICT, Tourism and Hospitality among others.
