Nkumba University  acting headcoach Wasswa Emmanuel has revealed that they are aiming to go past the quarterfinals where they were eliminated by Uganda Christian University last edition.

Wasswa believes that this can is achievable since the team has had enough time in training and the acquisition of new talented players.

“Our target this season is to play beyond quarterfinals. Last season we were eliminated on the quarterfinals but this time round we desire to surpass that.”

“We believe this is achievable .we have had enough training ,we have so far trained for a month which we believe has given players enough time to know each other.”

“We have also brought in new players, we have so far added on five players to the team that featured in the previous edition and the good thing is that all our good players from the previous edition are still with us.”

However Wasswa believes that it wont be an easy task being the fact that most universities have also prepared well for this competition as well.

“It wont be an easy season it wont be an easy task. Ofcourse from the group stages we are in the same group with new entrants IUEA, two time finalists SLAU and Gulu university. We know they have all prepared but we believe in our selves we shall deliver.”

Nkumba University was placed in the same group with International University of East Africa,Gulu University and St Lawrence University.

In the previous edition, Nkumba went through in a group that included MUBS,University of Kisubi, and Muni University.

Last years edition was won by Uganda Martyrs university Nkozi who edged St Lawrence University.

The pepsi University football league was meant to start on on 9th March but was postponed by the organising committee because of different reasons until a date that is yet to be communicated.

The 11th edition will include a number of 24 teams including new entrants ISBAT university and Kampala International university who are returning to the competition.
