I am the Best Candidate for Guild Presidency – Imran

Lutakome Imran Kigongo, a 3rd year Law student has asserted that he is the best feat for Nkumba University’s Guild Presidency.

Imran said this on thursday during one of his campaign trails in retaliation to questions raised by students concerning the many candidates vying for the same position.

A tall, offset-slender in size gentleman with a chocolate complexion has been poised by many for his logical assertiveness and jovial character.

Imran defines Leadership as one’s audacity assigned in using powers vested upon him to make things happen for the benefit of all.

He revealed that he started building his leadership profile from a tender age which makes him certainly well placed to duly deliver on the needs and concerns of the students and Nkumba University community.

“I have been a leader all My life, to sum it all up, O’level, I was the Head Prefect, and A’level, I served as Speaker red cross at the same time Chairperson Moslem Association,” He said.

“To be even more precise, I led the Golden regime, where we saw an array of improvement in students welfare and leadership growth at Wits Collage-Namulanda”.he added.

The Entebbe born law student excelled in both O and A’level before joining Victoria University for a certificate in project planning and management.

In 2020, he returned to Entebbe joining Nkumba university in pursuit of a bachelor of law/Legum Baccalaureus-LLB. It is here that Imran sought to become a class leader before ascension to Member of parliament, law school.

Imran is politically inspired by former U.S president Barrack Obama. ” His oratory and candid ability to speak to hearts with power is what all leaders ought to do,” noted Imran.

In business, he cites the deeds of Quantum Leap Advantage CEO Dan Penner and follows the foot prints of Mr. Mugabi John for organizational management.

At just 23, Imran has authored 3 books including ; the wars in leadership, a handbook of a successful student’s leader and the 6 chapters.

The Nkumba University electoral commission confirmed 7 candidates to battle for the University’s most prestigious leadership position.

The 7 include National Unity Platform’s Ssemambo Morris, National Resistance Movement’s Andwiineho Aurthur, Lutakome Imran Kikongo -independent, Ssebina Sharif-independent, Amon Muhwezi-independent, Toka Victor Given-independent, and Ngirabakunzi Daniel-independent.

Nkumba University goes to the polls on 29th October 2022 as Lawrence Mushabe’s tenure comes to an end.

Simon Peter Nashonji

Nashonji Simon Peter is a results-driven leader and versatile communications expert with a proven track record of excellence in journalism, public relations, and team management. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Public Relations, a Diploma in Journalism, and a Certificate in Counselling Psychology from Nkumba University. Currently, he is pursuing a Master's degree in Public Relations and Strategic Communication at Nkumba University. Nashonji's journalism career spans over five years. With a notable debut at Chimp Reports in 2018, Nashonji has authored and published over 500 articles on business trends, politics, health, sports, and the environment. To hone his craft, he volunteered as Editor of Nkumba University's News Website in 2022, a position he still holds. In 2023, Nashonji was selected among three students to represent Nkumba University at the year-long 2023 Media Challenge Fellowship, where he served as President of the cohort. Same year, he joined the Editorial team of Ubuntu Magazine, a Rotary District 9214 (Uganda and Tanzania) monthly news product. He is currently the Assistant Public Relations Officer at Nkumba University, President, Airforce S.S.S Alumni Association, and at the same time President, Samia Student's Association of Nkumba University. He is also a member of the Board of Governors at Airforce Senior Secondary School, his alma mater. Prior to his current roles, Nashonji accumulated valuable experience in management, having served as Supervisor at Crane Cafeteria (2019-2021), Restaurant General Manager at Pizza Hut Uganda (2016-2017), and Operations Manager at Corinya (U) Ltd (2010-2015). Nashonji also served as President of the Rotaract Club of Rubaga in the 2014-2015 Rotary year. Under his leadership, the club made a significant contribution of $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation. Still in Rotary circles, he played a key role in the establishment of the Rotaract Club of Entebbe Airport in 2012 and the Rotaract Club of Nkumba Stewards in 2015. A native of Buhauli village-Busia District, Nashonji is driven by the adage, "Opportunities multiply as they are seized and only dwindle when neglected."
