On friday six youths in areas of Mpumudde, Jinja were put in custody for featuring in a homosexuality video that went viral.
The video which became viral online mostly in areas of Jinja included different youths practicing acts of sodomy.
In a statement released by Uganda police force yesterday,Police confirmed the arrest of the six suspects whom they claim belong to a certain sexual network.
Police said that the sexual network is actively involved in recruiting and grooming of young and male youths into such acts .
The suspects arrested include 23year old Kalungi Fabian a peer educator and a resident of Namungoma cell,Kasubi division in Kampala, Kiiza Brian alias Chosen Muwera a 23 year old ,peer educator of Wabulenga cell in Jinja Northern division in Jinja city,Menya Sadat who calls herself Sheebah ,a 26 year old peer educator of Mbikko in Buikwe district ,Ibanda Geofrey a 29 year old Director of peace and comfort based organisation and resident of Mpumudde cell in Jinja city, Katumba Hamuza a student and counsellor from Nansana cell in Wakiso district and Wasajja shafic a 24 year old peer educator at Alive Medical Services in Namungoona and a resident of Kulekana cell in Makindye in Kampala.
Police also affirmed that after cartying out a t search on the home of Ibanda Geofrey and Kizza Brian they came across the tangible exhibits which confirmed that the suspects were into homosexuality.
“Upon search at the home of Ibanda Geoffrey and Kiiza Brian, Tangible exhibits were recovered which included; 192 Sackets of Lubricants, shirts and stags with LGBTQ Logos, metallic banner of peace and comfort with LGBTQ flag. It was established that members of the criminal sex gang recorded sex videos and also streamed live sessions, which they submitted to LGBTQ donors for funding of their activities. The 6 suspects were examined and some found to be HIV positive. More medical tests are being carried out. Efforts are in place to trace for their victims, who are silent and in hiding.”
Police also released that some of the suspects tested positive for HIV as more tests are being carried out on them.
The Uganda police force also named these acts as a big threat to the nation and called on all Ugandans to get involved in the fight and work with the against this dangerous vice
“These acts of sex trafficking of male juvenile is heinous and disturbing crime, which calls upon every Ugandan, to concert efforts in fighting it. Our inquiries are being extended beyond the 6 suspects, with a wider scope of safeguarding the public and any other victims of child sexual exploitation.”
“We are meanwhile, seeking more information regarding residential locations in neighborhoods, where acts of sexual trafficking and other unusual activities are taking place and encourages the public to report to the Police National Operations Command Centre.”
The acts of Homexuality have become so rampant ever since the start of this year mostly in urban areas of Kampala Wakiso and Jinja.
