The Nkumba University Law Society (NULS) has officially released its 3 Arms of Government Structure, in what has been termed as “commitment” to transparency, student-centered governance, and organizational clarity.
Kyobe Moses, President of the Law Society, expressed the importance of making the leadership chart public, emphasizing that the structure not only represents the Society’s dedication to organized leadership but also aims to inform and engage the wider Nkumba community.
“This structure reflects our commitment to organized, transparent, and student-focused leadership,” said Kyobe. “We believe that sharing it will foster a deeper understanding of the roles and responsibilities within the Law Society.”
The new chart outlines the various leadership roles within NULS, which cover the Executive, Judiciary, and Parliamentary positions, offering clarity on the lines of responsibility and communication flow.
The Nkumba University Law Society (NULS) is a dynamic student-led body that represents law students at Nkumba University. It plays a critical role in academic engagement, professional development, and leadership cultivation among future legal practitioners.
Since its inception, NULS has served as a platform for advocacy, legal literacy, and student welfare, actively contributing to the broader mission of Nkumba University’s School of Law. The Society organizes moot court competitions, public lectures, legal aid outreach programs, and mentorship sessions that bridge the gap between classroom learning and the legal profession.
Over the years, NULS has been shaped by visionary student leaders whose tenures brought innovation and impact.
Sandra Baze (2022–2023): As a female president, Sandra championed gender inclusion and led successful legal awareness campaigns across Entebbe communities, enhancing NULS’ public visibility.
Mwanje Gideon (2023–2024): His tenure focused on institutional partnerships and mooting excellence, leading the Society to regional recognition during the All-East African Moot Competitions, which eventually led to the establishment of the East African Student Law Society, where he later served as the inaugural President.
Kuganja Jovan Joel (2024–2025): Remembered for facilitating the historic visit of the Katikkiro (Prime Minister) of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, to Nkumba University, Kuganja was a quiet yet remarkably effective leader whose tenure was marked by impactful and successful leadership.
Kyobe Moses (Present): The current president, Kyobe Moses, is steering the Society towards a more transparent and student-centered leadership. Under his leadership, the NULS Government Structure Chart was unveiled to foster accountability and clarity in student governance.
The Nkumba University Law Society remains a cornerstone of student leadership at the university, nurturing not only future lawyers but also responsible citizens and advocates for justice. With law students occupying 50% of Guild leadership positions, the School of Law plays a significant role in shaping student welfare and influencing key decisions at Nkumba University.
