Kebirungi Fridah, a second-year social works and social administration student, emerges as a lone woman in a trio of men in the Nkumba University 2023-2024 Guild presidential race.

Setting her sights on the presidency prior to the end of the last semester, Fridah embarked on a journey to connect with her fellow students.

Initiating a WhatsApp group that started within the School of Social Sciences and gradually expanded to encompass the entire student body, she exhibited her commitment to open communication and dialogue.

Fridah’s competition includes national Unity platform’s Nicklas Musaasizi, the incumbent president of the School of Social Sciences and her coursemate, whose experience presents a formidable challenge.

Second is Ignatius Kangave Musaazi, an independent candidate from the School of Computing and Informatics, bringing his unique perspective after failing to secure the NRM ticket.

And third Ruhinda Wilberforce, a law student, one who triumphed over Musaazi for the NRM ticket, signifying his strong backing from the NRM executive Nkumba Chapter.

Radiating confidence in her distinct identity, Fridah firmly asserts, “I’m confident I’m going to win this race; my gender alone makes me special.”

” Nkumba hasn’t had a female guild president in eight years, and I believe the time has come for change.”

Fridah’s campaign revolves around her compelling slogan, “Building Bridges and Empowering Voices.” With a clear focus on bridging the gap between students and lecturers, she aims to dismantle barriers that hinder communication and understanding within the university.

“I’m here to empower both male and female students, giving them the platform to express themselves and engage with their lecturers,” she affirms.

Central to her platform is the “Building Bridges” initiative, which takes on cultural divisions that have long plagued the university’s unity. Fridah’s vision is one of cohesion and cooperation among diverse cultural groups, a step that she believes will greatly enhance the campus experience.

The guild presidential elections are scheduled for September 9th, with a potential for delay, as some analysts speculate. To stay updated on the 2023/2024 guild presidential elections, the Nkumba University community eagerly anticipates the unfolding chapters of this story.
