Nkumba flags off football team for University football games

Nkumba university has today flagged off the football team the beach boys to Nigeria to compete for the University African ball games .

The games will start on 20th this Friday and end on 27th at the University of Lagos in Nigeria’s capital.

Nkumba qualified to represent Uganda having become the champions of the university football league after defeating UCU on 20th April earlier this year.

The team is a 26 man squad comprising of both players and the technical team.

In a press briefing held Thursday morning in the VC’S boardroom at the main campus in Entebbe , the beach boys headcoach Dr Bbosa is assured that the team is ready for the much anticipated tournament.

” We are ready to represent Nkumba and Uganda in these games , we are well prepared we have reinforced the team with new Strong players we shall put up a good performance.”

Bbosa also added that
despite being underdogs they are not targeting to just compete but reaching the finals and bringing back the trophy home.

“We are aware of the West African competition we are aware that they are stronger and competitive compared to us but we carry a strong mentality despite being . Our target is not just to compete we are aiming at reaching the finals and furthermore bringing back the trophy home.”

The University Secretary Prof Francis Kasekende expressed his joy for such a milestone achieved by the university and further appplauded the university council for supporting spending over 120million and ensuring that the team travels for the tournament.

We are happy because our team is going to represent us and we believe we are going to win. I want to thank the university council who have injected in over 120 million Ushs to make sure that the team travel to Nigeria to represent us.” He said.

In his remarks , the Vice Chancellor Prof Jude T Lubega applauded the team upon this achievement and Expressed his optimism for the teams success in Nigeria.

It’s the first time sending a team as Uganda and it’s the first time we are bringing the trophy back home Records are here to be broken we have good players and we are confident we are bringing the trophy home .” He positively asserted.

He further thanked Uganda Airlines for giving the team air tickets at a subsidised price and Eight tech consults for equipping the team with new kits they’ll use in the tournament.

Earlier yesterday Eight tech consults promised that each goal scored will be awarded 50 dollars , each team win one million and playing in the finals 5 millions.
