Nkumba University- Dean School of Social Sciences, Dr. Ann Abaho has advised new students to give priority to education.
She said this on Thursday, 8th February, 2024 while addressing new students at Mpanga Library, Nkumba University.
Dr. Ann cautioned new students to avoid anything that may divert them from their academic pursuit, the core reason they joined Nkumba University, “This is a journey you are fortunate to take on, please prioritize education above everything else.”
New students reported on 5th February 2024 and as a norm, they were introduced to a week-long comprehensive orientation program that was conducted collaboratively by the Guild Government and the Office of the Dean of Students.
The Dean of Students welcomed the new entrants and underscored the significance of maintaining a decent dress code both on campus and during lectures.
In addition, he advised students talented in sports to showcase their abilities if they aspire to secure sports scholarship opportunities at the university.
The Guild President, Ignitious Kangave Musaazi encouraged students to actively participate in leadership, academics, and co-curricular activities.
He also emphasized the importance of acquiring diverse skills that would contribute to their overall development beyond university.
Day 3 of the orientation saw Mr. Joseph Lwevuze, the e-learning officer addressing the new students on matters concerning virtue learning.
He assured the new entrants of his timely support and guidance when the need arose, “As the e-learning officer, I am responsible for overseeing the online learning platforms that you will use while accessing online studies.”
“I am here to support you in accessing and engaging with the high-quality and interactive online content that our expert support team and trainers have developed for you. I will also be helping you with any technical issues or challenges that you may face while using online learning tools.
The new students constitute the February 2024 intake, on the weekend, day, and long-distance program.
