Nkumba University and FUFA discuss collaboration to establish professional certificates for footballers

In an effort to promote professional standards in football, Nkumba University and the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) have initiated discussions for a possible collaboration. The meeting, which was hosted by Professor Kasekende on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of Nkumba University, Professor Jude Lubega, was held at the university campus this afternoon.

The key agenda of the meeting was to explore ways of establishing a professional certification for all footballers in Uganda. The aim is to provide formal recognition and accreditation for players who have attained a certain level of skill, knowledge and competence in the game.

Speaking in the meeting, Professor Kasekende emphasized the importance of having professional standards in football, stating that it would not only benefit players but also the entire football industry. He also noted that Nkumba University, as a leading academic institution in the country, is committed to promoting excellence in sports and would be willing to support any initiatives aimed at improving the standards of football in Uganda.

On his part, the FUFA representative Mr Francis expressed his appreciation for the collaboration and noted that it would go a long way in enhancing the credibility of football in the country. He also added that the federation was committed to working closely with Nkumba University to ensure that the proposed certification meets international standards.

The meeting was seen as a positive step towards promoting professional standards in football and enhancing the quality of the sport in Uganda. Both parties agreed to continue discussions and explore further areas of collaboration.

Nkumba University has been key in producing different footballers into professional footballers like Yasser Mugerwa, Murishid Juuko and Wasswa Emmanuel and this collaboration is expected to be an addition to nurturing talents.
