Nkumba University GDSC Hosts Google Team

Nkumba University Google Developer Students Club hosted a team from Google for an info session on Friday 8th September, 2023.

The session which involved engaging and interesting the students community into technology and innovation attracted close to 50 students.

In his address, the Dean School of Computing and informatics, Dr. John Paul Kasi implored students to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the Google Developer Student’s club.

” here, you are working with your peers and you have access to well developed environment for cording, be sure to interface with experienced people from all over the world. I implore you to seize the opportunity. “

Lisa Kaitesi, the former Google Developer Students’ Clubs Lead at Makerere University Business School, shared her insights during the session. She highlighted how Google Groups empower students to harness technology for solving real-world problems, ” Google is here to help you become tech-savvy and be able to generate solutions to solve everyday problems. ” said Kaitesi.

Kaitesi’s insights resonated with the students, who acknowledged the immense opportunities the club presents. Tusiime Cyrus Kirabo and IT student said, “Being a core member, the club has changed the way I think about technology, being a programmer, I have seen that I can use various google services like flutter to help me accomplish my work real quick.”

Nkumba University’s Google Developers Students’ Club lead, Jjemba Emmanuel, revealed that the club was established this year with a mission to unite technologically interested and skilled students for technological innovation. ” the goal is to rally students who are interested in technology and foster innovation in response to everyday human challenges.”

Since inception, the club inception has already created a buzz among students eager to contribute to the world of technology and innovation.

As the Club continues to grow and inspire its members, it is clear that the future holds exciting possibilities for these young tech enthusiasts.

Nashonji Simon Peter is a dynamic and multi-faceted team leader, renowned for his exceptional interpersonal skills. Having graduated with a Diploma in Journalism, Nashonji is on the cusp of completing his Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Public Relations at Nkumba University. He picked his niche and started writing with Chimp Reports in 2018. Since then, he has authored and published over 500 articles that cover Business trends, Politics, Health, Sports, and Environment. To master his craft, Nashonji offered to volunteer as an Editor of Nkumba University's News Website in 2022, a position he has held to date. Beyond the realm of academia, Nashonji is deeply involved in the governance of Airforce Senior Secondary School his Alma Mata, where he serves as a member on the Board of Directors. He is currently, the President Airforce S.S.S Alumni Society, President Samia Student's Association of Nkumba University and at the same time President of the Media Challenge Fellowship, 2023 cohort.
